Riders of Icarus appears to be coming back online a year after its sunsetting

February of last year saw the sunset of Riders of Icarus, a free-to-play MMORPG that primarily hung its hat on players’ ability to tame a wide variety of the world’s creatures for use as pets, companions, and mounts. It was an expected turn of events after Valofe took stewardship of the game from Nexon, with an attempted release of a pay-to-earn version and a sloppy closure of its SEA servers as some of its later highlights, though the game also had a sizeable player count in its 2016 western launch.

Well, if you were among those who happened to have been holding a candle for this one, then we’ve got some surprising news: The game appears to be on its way back as Icarus Online. The game’s apparent unsunsetting was announced on the Facebook-like platform Orvvit with a date of Thursday, September 10th, for a reveal, while its official Discord promises a return sometime this year.

The company running this return appears to be Valofe once again, at least if an image from the Discord is any indication, so that may give some fans pause. Whatever is coming next, we’ve only got a couple of days left to find out it seems.
