The deal, closed in August after regulatory approval, adds three Danish online casino brands to the Malta-based group and is expected to lift EBITDA by up to 31%.
Consolidation among regulated-market iGaming operators has accelerated in 2026, with groups seeking scale in established jurisdictions to improve earnings quality and operating leverage. On 20 October 2026, LCKY Group confirmed the completed acquisition of RoyalCasino, a Denmark-exclusive operator first agreed in May 2026.
Deal adds three Danish brands to LCKY portfolio
LCKY Group, the Malta-based iGaming operator formerly known as Glitnor Group, has completed its acquisition of RoyalCasino following regulatory clearance from the Danish Gambling Authority (Spillemyndigheden). The transaction, first announced in May 2026, closed in August and has now passed all required approvals.
The deal adds three Danish iGaming brands to the LCKY portfolio:
- royalcasino.dk,
- kapowcasino.dk
- valhallacasino.dk.
RoyalCasino operates exclusively in Denmark, where it holds an established position in a market that has been licensed and regulated since 2012.
The acquisition is forecast to deliver an 18–20% increase in group revenue and a 29–31% increase in EBITDA on a pro-forma basis. LCKY Group said post-merger integration is already under way, with the two companies progressing towards a combined operating structure. The purchase price was not disclosed.
Strategic rationale: regulated-market scale
LCKY Group said the acquisition aligns with its strategy of what it described as ‘disciplined, value-accretive expansion’ in regulated jurisdictions. RoyalCasino’s incumbency in Denmark, a market with more than three decades of land-based and online casino operations, is expected to improve the group’s operating leverage and expand its geographic mix. LCKY Group also intends to use the deal as a platform to launch the RoyalCasino brands in additional markets.
Denmark’s regulatory environment is currently in transition: a gambling bill re-tabled in October 2026 would introduce a whistle-to-whistle ban on advertising around live sport, with restrictions applying from 1 July 2027. For an operator with an established local presence, RoyalCasino’s existing compliance infrastructure and brand recognition become meaningful assets in that environment.
Richard Brown, chief executive of LCKY Group, said:
‘The acquisition of RoyalCasino enhances our scale and provides clear opportunities to strengthen our presence in Denmark, a market that aligns closely with our focus on regulated, sustainable growth. We look forward to working closely with RoyalCasino to realise those opportunities and drive synergies that can create long-term value.’
Per Petersen, chief executive of RoyalCasino, said:
‘RoyalCasino is one of the largest online casino operators in Denmark, a market characterised by its high levels of innovation and competition. We see the combination of our local expertise and LCKY’s scale and pedigree as a great recipe for shared success, and we’re thrilled to now be able to introduce them to our Danish customers.’
