KeyForge Online Brings Power of the Archons to Crowdfunding

The acclaimed card game, KeyForge, is getting a digital game. The aptly titled KeyForge Online is a new crowdfunding project by independent studio Yellow King in collaboration with tabletop developer Ghost Galaxy.

The details on the KeyForge Online crowdfunding campaign at this time are limited. First, it does confirm that the project is to create a digital companion experience, similar to Magic Arena, to the KeyForge card game. The campaign promises an immersive experience featuring animations, sound effects, automatic matchmaking, collection management, support for multiple game formats, integration with local play, and more.

At the time of writing, further details are scarce. There is an incentive to follow the campaign early. A free digital Archon deck and in-game Ultra Gravitron Archon Buddy if you pledge at a certain tier. Other than confirmation of pending details at KeyForge Celebration 2026, not much else can be confirmed.

The announcement of KeyForge Online is a solid continuation of the card game's second lease on life. The card game, originally under the stewardship of Fantasy Flight Games, was bought by Ghost Galaxy in 2022 and has hosted several crowdfunding campaigns to keep the series going. It even got an official TTRPG adaptation using Fantasy Flight's Genesys Roleplaying system.

The unique selling point of KeyForge is that, unlike other collectible card games, every deck is pre-made and sealed. This meant that if you wanted to play, you bought a deck and played what was in it. You couldn't customize it either; each deck had unique back art. While this does remove the appeal of self-expression from the game, it also meant the game wasn't plagued by net-decking, the practice of buying and building decks based on the competitive meta.

The Gamefound campaign for KeyForge Online will be going live sometime later this year.
