Champions Online throws a major bash for its 17th anniversary

As we all well know, most MMOs actually are pretty lame when it comes to throwing a party for their own anniversary. “Another batch of fireworks as a gift” is a phrase that comes to mind. But this is definitely not the case for Champions Online, which may be a minor MMO but pulls off a major anniversary event every year.

Play Champs Online for freeThis year’s 17th anniversary is no exception, as a party rages from now through September 29th. The fun starts with a free freeform character slot for everyone who claims it, an earnable Retro Steelhead costume set, a double XP boost, and an earnable Vanguard archetype.

There’s plenty to do in the game as well. Champions brought back its Top Ten mission tour, a simulation of the Qularr Invasion, a Parable of the Prisms scavenger hunt, a Sapphire virtual concert, and that old superhero tradition of rescuing a cat from a tree. Or many cats, in this case.
