Canceled Mass Effect Game’s Trailer Seemingly Leaks Online

A new post shares a trailer for what appears to be the canceled Mass Effect title, Mass Effect Universe.

Recently, EA announced that it is shutting down BioWare and canceling the next Mass Effect title, which was still in early development. This decision also affects 400 jobs, leaving many in the community mourning the loss of the studio and the upcoming game. However, it appears that players may have just caught a glimpse of this canceled project through a leaked trailer.

Mass Effect Universe’s In-Engine Trailer Has Surfaced

A new post on the r/masseffect subreddit features a trailer for the canceled Mass Effect title. The trailer begins by stating that all the footage used in the trailer is in-engine footage from the team, and it uses the studio’s pre-production assets. The new trailer features no gameplay footage, only cutscenes. Players get to see some fancy gliding and telekinetic abilities, the character scanning a face, and a whole lot of action, melee, and weapon combat.

The trailer ends with the words ‘Mass Effect: Universe’ and ‘Coming Soon’. Check it out below:

Update: The trailer is real

If this is the real trailer for the canceled Mass Effect title, it looks really promising. Also, all hope may not be lost, as a BioWare executive feels EA is “more likely” to sell the license of Mass Effect and Dragon Age. At the same time, it was also stated that there’s a possibility of them being buried in a vault.
